About Earth Day
EARTHDAY.ORG’s founders created and organised the very first Earth Day on April 22nd, 1970. Since then, EARTHDAY.ORG has been mobilising over 1 billion people annually on Earth Day, and every other day, to protect the planet.
The key theme for Earth Day 2024 is ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, which aims to raise awareness of plastic pollution, reduce single-use plastic consumption, demand an end to fast-fashion, invest in technologies that can reduce plastic use and demand a 60% reduction in the production of plastics by 2040.
Bluepoint’s commitment to Sustainability and the Environment
To show our support for Earth Day 2024, and to show our commitment to our overall environmental and sustainability values, Bluepoint Management have all signed the Earth Day ‘Global Plastics Treaty’ petition. You can sign it too here: earthday.org
Bluepoint has also recently developed its new Sustainability Management System for 2024, which is based on the 3 Scope Principles of the GHG Protocols. Bluepoint’s sustainability management system is assessed annually by EcoVadis, the worlds most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings.
In 2024 Bluepoint is also working with its partners and suppliers to provide Embodied Carbon data on all applicable products it installs for its clients, as well as plastic free packaging where possible. Embodied carbon, also known as ‘embodied carbon emissions’ or ‘embodied carbon footprint’, refers to the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted during the production, transportation, and construction of a building, infrastructure project, or product. It accounts for the emissions associated with the entire lifecycle of the product, from the extraction of raw materials to manufacturing, transportation, construction, and eventual disposal.
